Love Food Communities Program

Northern Rivers

Food Manufacturers

North East Waste is looking for 25 local food manufacturers to participate in an innovate new program funded by the NSW Government’s Environmental Protection Authority. The Love Food Communities Program aims to foster mutually beneficial transformative partnerships, innovation, community engagement strategies and new and adapted communication resources, to establish a whole of region approach to food waste avoidance across the Northern Rivers’ seven local government areas.

Be a Food Waste Champion

The manufacturing component of the project targets the local food manufacturing sector, and is aimed at developing and piloting resources for local businesses to address food waste.

The program will give local food manufacturing businesses the tools they need to make informed decisions about how to measure, map and reduce their food waste. Five “champion businesses” will be selected to develop and pilot food waste avoidance resources (eg staff training, information sharing through local collaborative networks, targeted government investment in regional infrastructure), which will then be adopted and trialed by a further 20 local food manufacturers.

Free to Join

There is no cost associated for taking part in the program. Participating business will join in events/workshops (in person and online, pending COVID restrictions), be offered regional and state-wide promotional opportunities as well as complimentary access to the resources produced.
