Our community programs are available to Northern Rivers residents free of charge either online in the comfort of your own home, or you can participate in one of our face-to-face workshops held across the region.
The regional programs developed through North East Waste in collaboration with our seven member councils, help our community expand their knowledge and have fun learning useful tips and skills to reduce waste.

Take the challenge to reduce wasteful items such as single-use plastic and opt for reuse and repair wherever possible. North East Waste and your local council run a number of community programs or workshops each year to help you live more sustainably.
As a nation, food waste costs the Australian economy $20 billion a year. Householders alone throw away 3.1 million tonnes of edible food and to help us visualise this – that’s close to 17,000 grounded 747 jumbo jets!!
There are a number of options available across the Northern Rivers to assist the community in recovering more resources and sending less to landfill.
