Recycling
You can make a difference
We inhabit one of the world’s most diverse regions, with an abundance of natural beauty worth preserving.
Recycling is one way you can act to make a difference.
Recycling wastes water because I have to wash and rinse out all my containers before recycling them: OH NO YOU DON”T!!!
You DO NOT need to wash out all your containers thoroughly before placing in the bin. Just get rid of any leftover food/drink (compost or green bin it preferably!), and place loose in your recycling bin.
All of our recycling goes to landfill anyway
No Way!!! It costs Council more money to bury waste than to recycle it so it just would not make any economic sense to do that in our region.
Lids, labels, way too much work for me to take off
Well guess what – you don’t need to take the lids or labels off anymore. They can stay on now, which makes it even easier for you to recycle

Recycling MYTHBUSTERS
Are you ready for some recycling myths to get busted out of landfill.
By recycling just 6 aluminium cans you can save enough energy to offset the carbon emissions from a 10km journey in an average sized car, 17km bus ride or 25km train trip.
The items that go into our yellow-lidded recycling bin at home include glass bottles and jars, plastic containers and drink bottles, milk and juice cartons, paper and magazines, steel and aluminium cans, and even aerosol cans.

I will find out what materials are collected for recycling in my community.
Reduce my personal waste by recycling. Within the next month, I will recycle more.
In the next month, I will encourage one family member, one work colleague or one friend to take the pledge.
